Tony Fofi & Walt Gulledge Win PBC Academy Sports & Outdoors Sprint Team Bass Trail Match 3,2018

NEWS RELEASE……PBC ACADEMY SPORTS & OUTDOORS $10,000 SPRING TEAM BASS TRAIL

The 2018 PBC Academy Sports & Outdoors $10,000 Spring Team Bass Trail Qualifier #1 at Shearon Harris got off to a  blustery start!!  The weather was very windy for March with air temps 33 degrees in the am on up to 57 in the pm. Water  temps averaged about 58 degrees. Winds were light at the 6:50 blastoff and then blew steady at about 15 and gusted to  about 25 in the afternoon! All 79 teams agreed it was a very tough fishing day.  Harris can turn on & off in a second, but  today it was turned off!!! Last year it took right at 42 lbs. to win but when the nor’easter blew in the last few days..Harris  shut down.Tony Fofi & Walt Gulledge outdid the field weighing in just 3 bass at 15.92 lbs. and also caught the 1st place Big Fish  (9.65 lbs.), won the TWT and also should have $500 coming from Nitro Boats for a total of $4,215 in winnings. The teamfound the 3 fish in less than 6′ of water!!! What really helped today was the 9.65 pounder!

Thomas Sheffer & Ken McNeill took 2nd place with 4 fish (one at 8.33 lbs.) weighing 14.17 lbs. to take home $822 in  winnings. 3rd Place Team, Jim Croce & Jeremy Pope, had 2 nice fish weighing 13.88 lbs. and took home $632!! The 4th  place team of Jerry Marshburn & Kevin Woodall  had 5 bass at 12.69 lbs. and also won the 2nd Place TWT for a total of  $1,123. 2nd place Big Fish (9.27 lbs.) went to the 8th place team of Mike Stephenson & Thanos Tsoumbos to give them  a total of $784 in winnings. The prize money got spread around pretty good today!

Only 58 fish were weighed in for a total of 204 pounds for an average of 3.51 lbs. each. Most of the fish were caught on   Jerkbaits, chatterbaits and shallow running crankbaits in anywhere from 2 to 6 feet of water. Water temps are veryimportant now and bass are starting to move into the shallower water. Going to Jordan next week where we don’t have a  slot limit and the bass should ON!!! Jordan has put out some good bags over 30 here lately depending on the weather.
