The Cashion Fishing Rods ‘End of Year’ Team Tournament Bass Fishing Trail Championship at Kerr Lake was  fantastic and the results for the 25 qualified teams were really close. Air temps stayed steady at about 70degrees, winds were light to variable and the water level was about 301. Surface water temps averaged 70  degrees. At blastoff the weather was beautiful and the lake was slick! About 9:30am the rains came pretty  steady and hard at times but finally stopped around 1pm just in time for the weighin, awards, door prizes andDecky’s famous Bar-B-Q sandwiches!! Other than the rain, it was a great day for the Championship!

Mark Herndon and Jay Garrard squeaked out a win, but it was a big one, with 5 bass weighing 13.88 lbs to take  1st Place worth $1,935 and 2 Cashion Custom Fishing Rods! They also won 2nd place Big Fish (3.52 lbs.) and1st Place TWT. They also were the Cashion Fishing Rods Points Champions for the Trail and were awarded  $975 and another 2 Cashion Custom Fishing Rods. They also took home trophies for the Championship win and  Points! Their winning for the day in cash and prizes totalled $4,485 !!! Nice day on the lake for this great team!

They were closely followed by the 2nd Place Team of Derek Bowden & Matthew Little trailing by only .57 of a  pound with 5 bass weighing 13.31 lbs. They also won 2nd Place TWT & 1st Place Big Fish (3.96 lbs.) to take  home a total of $1,375. It was really close weights for the top 5 teams with only 2.55 lbs. separating 1st & 6th !!

90 bass were brought to the scales for a total of 199 pounds averaging 2.22 lbs. each. Most were caught flipping  trees & bushes in shallow water with jigs & plastics. Some were caught a little deeper off rock & grass withC-rigs. The winning team were using shaky heads for the most part. The bass were hanging very tight to the  structure and most hits were reaction bites.

I want to thank Cashion Fishing Rods and all the anglers that participated.
