Bad weather forecast, Graduation Day and Mother’s Day!!. It did affect the turnout a little but the weather did not affect us a bit. It started sprinkling just a little right after all the festivities were over at about 4pm. A good turnout of 67 boats fished the PBC Academy Sports & Outdoors $10K Spring Team Bass Trail Qualifier #6 at Jordan. Surface water temps averaged 78 degrees and the winds ranged from 5 to 7 mph. Air temps were 67 in the am and 76 in the pm. The lake level is now back to normal and the bass are now post spawn and getting fat feeding very well on the shad.
First time PBC winners, Josh Whitford (L) & Tyler Ivey, caught 5 good bass weighing a total of 28.31 lbs., which included a
7.26 pounder, to take 1st Place & 1st Place TWT for a total of $2,651 in prize money!
The 2nd Place team of Thomas Sheffer & Rob Cable (subbing for regular team member Ken McNeill) caught 5 bass weighing 26.34 lbs. and also took Big Fish honors with a good 8.67 pounder!! They also won 2nd Place TWT to pocket $2,313 in winnings. The 3rd Place Team of Jaime Fajardo & Josh Hooks weighed a 5 fish total of 26.24 lbs. to give them $536 in winnings. 2nd Place Big Fish (8.29 lbs.) was won by the team of Mark Hudson & James Hastings for $924 Money got spread around good today again and the scores were close!253 bass were brought to the scales and 48 of the 67 teams had their limit! The bite is good at Jordan at this time. The bass, for the most part, have spawned and are feeding heavily on shad. The topwater bite has also improved.Jigs, Pop R’s, Buzzbaits, crankbaits & spinnerbaits in the more shallow 2 to 10′ of water seemed to be the lures of choice. Look for the shad!!I want to thank Academy Sports & Outdoors along with all our other sponsors and all the anglers that participated. Our next tournament will be the Hart’s Custom Sets~~Cashion Fishing Rods Spring 5K Trail Championship forqualified teams only, Saturday May 18th at Falls Lake out of Ledge Rock Wildlife Ramp.
