The Cashion Fishing Rods ‘End of Year’ Team Tournament Bass Fishing Trail Final Qualifier #8 at Shearon Harris was tough again for our 35 teams attending. The weather was great!! The winds ranged from 0 to 10, the air temps ranged from 59 to 72 and the water level was about normal. Surface water temps averaged 64. Most of the teams caught a few fish and only one team brought in a limit. Fish are not schooled up at this time and it makes it tough to catch ‘above slot’ fish. Typical Fall fishing !!!
Jerry Marshburn & Rick Ohlson (subbing for Marshburn’s regular partner Tim Parker) had the only limit brought in, 5 bass weighing 17.26 lbs and it was enough to take 1st Place & 1st Place TWT for a total of $1,407! 2nd Place team was Erik Ross & Les Walters with 4 bass weighing 12.04 lbs. netting them $532. The 3rd Place team of Mike Eggers & Randy Carr had only 2 bass weighing 9.93 lbs. but the fish won them $420! The team of Todd Sumner & Mike Dinterman could only bring one fish to the scales and it was the big fish for the day weighing 7.39 lbs. winning them 6th place and the Big Fish Award totalling $672 !!
Only 30 bass were brought to the scales for a total of 93 pounds averaging 3.07 lbs. each. Fish were caught at all depths using anything from jigging spoons, plastic worm rigs to creature baits! Many more fish were caughtin the 3 to 5 lb. range but could not be weighed in due the the outdated (my opinion) slot limit imposed on Harris.
