April 2024 Kerr Lake Fishing Report by Captain Rick Morris
Bass fishing on Lake Gaston and Kerr Lake in April can be hit or miss considering all the variables like muddy water, cold fronts, wind and changing water levels. Water temperatures have been hovering close to 60° or more some days and Fishing has been mostly good Fish are staged in the creek arms and the pockets getting ready for the spawn so cover some water using bladed jigs crank baits and #WarEagleSpinnerBaits.
The next full moon is April 23 and I’m sure the dogwood trees will be in full bloom by then? A sure sign that the Bass will be on the bedsso the last week or two of April with the fish bedding it’ll be time to slow down with all the usual Plastic techniques like Wacky rig,Neko rig, Carolina rig and good old shakey head worms. Remember on windy days. Try some power fishing when it’s dead calm still and sunny you’re just gonna need the slowdown.
