Allen Stout & Mark Sharpe win the Cashion Fishing Rods 'end of year' team bass trail qualifier #6 Results Saturday September 27th, 2014
1st Place: Allen Stout & Mark Sharpe of Graham & Crestview, FL…4 bass…12.05 lbs
The Cashion Fishing Rods ‘End of Year’ Team Tournament Bass Fishing Trail Qualifier #6 at Mayo Reservoir this past Saturday proved again bass fishing here can be tough this time of year! 16 teams showed up to fish Mayo, which is tough to fish because of the deep clear water! The weather was beautiful! Air temps were about59 in the am and around 77 in the afternoon. The wind was pretty much calm all day. Water temps averaged 73 degrees. The most fish were caught in 2′ to 10′ water early on. Once the sun popped out the bite slowed butsome anglers did fool a few bass in up to 40′ of water. Believe it or not, A-Rigs seemed to be the hot baits on schooling bass chasing bait balls. Crankbaits, plastics, spinnerbaits and Topwater took their toll on the rest ofthe fish.Allen Stout & Mark Sharpe needed only 4 bass weighing a total of only 12.05 lbs. but it was enough to take 1st Place worth $640. Right on their tails was the 2nd Place Team of Michael Thomas & Michael Jr. with 5 bassweighing 11.96 lbs. Bryce McClenney & Michael Christie took 3rd with 11.85 lbs. Big fish for the day was caught by the team of Barney Compton & Sue Gates (6.88 lbs.) winning them a total of $210. Robyn Cook won the Tow Boats US Member Award of $50.35 bass were weighed in for a total of 90 pounds. This averaged a little over 2.5 lbs. a fish and they were nice and fat. Mayo is a great little lake and with the bass feeding heavily on shad for the winter, now is the time to go! Mayo also has some good Chain Pickerel fishing if the bass aren’t biting!!!I want to thank all the anglers that participated and all our sponsors that support these trails. Our nexttournament will be the Cashion Fishing Rods ‘End of Year’ Team Tournament Bass Fishing Trail Qualifier #7, Saturday, October 11th at Shearon Harris out of Cross PointLanding Wildlife Ramp. All the information on our tournaments can be found at http://piedmontbassclassics.com/
